Real AI

Real AI would help us ‘brainstorm’. We’d be able to throw dozens of ideas around and synergize solutions, on the fly, all around us. Global warming? Snap: solutions we can implement today. War in Crimea? Snap: alternative approaches to conflict that click with known personalities. Space Travel? Snap! Cancer? Snap!

All processes in use today rely on ‘number crunching’ or processing power to analyze vast quantities of data in interpreting requests of one person, the operator. This would be adequate, if inefficient, if only the results were useful. However, except for the most specialized of tasks (and with extraordinary human input), they are not. Fundamentally, unless we reach a near-perfect or “human” level of absorption and understanding of data, from lists of text to interpretive speech response, to minding our calendars, we will continue to rocket into an oblivion of further and further decreasing human attention spans, being more connected but less in touch, faster and faster and altogether less and less satisfyingly so.

There is an alternative (stick with me now).

We can learn how to understand people.

By truly listening to and understanding people on a meta level we can understand how to understand people on an individual level. If we can understand how to understand on an individual’s level then we can train a computer to understand you. Not to ‘ape’ you, by sending your words to the cloud to be averaged down with something different than you intended, but to actually understand the meaning of your words. What do you mean? At this point dialog becomes possible between machines and humans and everything must change. Will it change for the better? I think so.

Here is why I am confident. To data I have seen only one potential solution proffered that running on the technology of today has the potential speak with us, to dialog, to actually understand humans, form ideas and communicate them back. It is called MONDEX8 and it is a formula for a community-based platform to the development and exchange of ideas.

It is a natural interface language, like English, and like English, it adapts itself to circumstances and to speakers, easily accommodating a wide range of subjects, interests and development levels. And because words don’t teach, but actions do, MONDEX8 is able to produce new connections and direct actions meaning may be used as much more than an interpreter, it is cellular sentience.

Through our taxonomical viewpoint it may be possible to review and order any set of data so that it makes as much sense as intended. Why? Because it is an increasing requirement to deal with data complexity (and volume!) with efficiency plus accuracy. Current methods don’t suffice at interpretive analysis, which is why ‘AI’ today is anything but. And, to paraphrase a favorite teach of mine: ‘you can’t get there from here’. We will not achieve specific operatibilty through a route of generalized operability. We must learn to dialog with the specific if we are to move the AI needle.
